The Tara Practice is a traditional practice in Tibetan Buddhism and consists of prayers and
meditation/visualization of the Tara. The practice is recited in English.
Cost: Free of charge/by donation.
The practice text
You can download the text free of charge from the FPMT Foundation Store here.
The benefits of Tara practice
The benefits of practicing Tara are uncountable. By reciting the Praises to the Twenty-One Taras with
devotion, at dawn or dusk, and remembering Tara and reciting her mantra at any time of the day or
night, we are protected from fear and danger, and all our wishes are fulfilled. If we pray to Tara, Tara
will grant help quickly. By doing Tara practice you create positive merits for yourself, others, and the
center. You can read more about the benefits of Tara Practice here.
About the session
As there will be no teaching/explanation about the practice within the actual session, it is mainly
meant for those we are already familiar with traditional practices and prayers within Tibetan
Buddhism. However, you are very welcome to attend even if you are not familiar with these
practices. You can attend at whatever level suits you, participate in the whole practice or just
participate in whatever part of the practice makes sense to you and listen in/observe the rest.
Dedication list
At the end of the practice, we dedicate the positive energy created for the benefit of those who have
recently died, are ill, are suffering or in some other way needs support. If you would like to add
anyone to the dedication list, please email Maria Damsholt (see contact information below). Anyone
can add someone to the dedication list, also if you don’t participate in the session.
Questions and contact information
The practice will be led by Maria Damsholt. If you have any questions about the practice or would
like to add someone to the dedication list, please email maria@damsholt.dk or call 51 28 08 58.
